Let’s start by reviewing my resolutions from 2007…
1) To redo csixty4.com and swrap.org with nice, modern looks and some of that nifty “web 2.0″ style Javascript/DHTML action.
Done! I redid csixty4.com as a Wordpress site on 3/22/07 and I’m so much happier. I don’t have any fancy Javascript effects going, but are they really that important for a blog?
swrap.org…eh. I’m not really that involved in SWRAP these days, and the site wasn’t getting us much interest anyway. I’d say the mailing list I run there is more important…kinda. There’s hardly any posts these days.
2) To buy a copy of Reason 3.0 and fulfill that teenage dream of making music.
Not done. I never felt like spending the money. Now that my tastes are shifting away from the dark & dreary, I’m not even sure what kind of music I’d want to make, besides cookie cutter loopy crap.
I have been giving some thought to picking up a cheap electric cello and playing around with it, though. I miss playing a real instrument.
3) To just start doing things and let people join in after the fact instead of waiting for everyone to start along with me, because it never happens.
Done! I started the PHP meetup group, and it’s grown to having 15-20 people at meetings.
4) To get all my old 401k accounts rolled over.
Not done. All but one. It has a tiny amount of money, but I really should do something with it soon.
5) To find new social outlets.
Done! I’m volunteering at the cat shelter and I’m running a PHP meetup.
So, that’s 3 out of 5. Not bad, I guess. Now, my 2008 resolutions:
- Get that last $*%^! 401k rolled over.
- Be able to park two cars in our garage again (i.e. clear out junk)
- Buy a snowblower.
- Either work on a graduate level certificate or get industry certification in something.
