Down three pounds!

September 27, 2004 by Dave Ross

It's been about five months since I stopped biting my nails, and I wanted a new challenge. Amy is taking part in somethign called "bodychallenge" with her Livejournal friends, but I'm not into group weight loss(nevermind that I'm not a Livejournal user). Instead, I came up with my own method of making myself lose weight.

I've affectionately named it the "stop eating so damn much" diet. It goes like this. If I'm still hungry after a decent-sized helping at dinner, I refrain from having a second. Instead, I tell myself to "stop eating so damn much". I'm trying to limit my portion size at lunch, too. Oh, and I'm choosing diet soda at least once a day. I'm too much of a caffeine addict to give up pop completely.

In a week, I've lost three pounds, and Amy noticed that I have less of a gut. If I can keeep this pace going, I'll have lost 40 pounds by Christmas. I know that's a bit of a pipe dream, but we'll see where this goes. At the very least, I want to lose 15 pounds so I'm back under 200.

Vroom. Or not.

I think the_commodore_techie is about to call it quits on eBay. I've been willing to live with paper-thin margins on my sales of vintage computer hardware & software. But I can't deal with the traffic anymore.

You'd think it would be a simple errand. There's a UPS customer counter about 5 miles from work — practically a straight shot up Route 53. Factor in construction, closed roads, almost running out of gas, and lunchtime traffic, and this simple errand took over an hour to complete. I never did end up getting anything to eat for lunch.

Compared to what an hour of my time is worth to my employer, the $10 I got for that Amiga 1000 just doesn't seem worth the effort.

So, anyone in the Chicago area want to buy a garage full of Commodore equipment?

Everybody's workin' for the weekend!

I had a great weekend — and I can't tell you about it!

What I can tell you is that I now have full use of the Synaptics touchpad on my laptop in Linux.

I can also tell you that little tidbit of info has nothing to do with my great weekend.
