mmm…beer

October 29, 2004 by Dave Ross

I'm not much of a beer drinker. Truth be told, I'd rather have some kinda wussy fruity drink than liquor straight up. Does it make me less of a man? I don't know.

As an April Fools gag this year, Thinkgeek put up a mock listing for glowing caffeinated beer. It was good for a chuckle, but who on earth would want to drink caffeinated beer, let alone beer with an eerie green glow?

Leave it to the folks at Anheuser-Busch. Thankfully, they eschewed the freaky glowy stuff. But what they did put into their new BtoE beer is "caffeine, guarana and ginseng".

Will it be a hit? Who knows? But I may have to pick up some for the next Netfest.

The Waiting Game

October 28, 2004 by Dave Ross

Ok, "Commodore Group", where are the goods?

Some of you out there may remember my entry on the "rebirth" of the Commodore brand. In it, I basically painted the people and companies behind this relaunch as a bunch of amateurs without a lick of business sense. Well, so far I feel quite justified in that appraisal.

When was that press conference, anyway? I could look it up, but I'd rather not waste the time. It was this summer…I think early June…right around my birthday perhaps? Oh, they had a whole slew of products slated for release. Their website gave August dates for most of them, I think.

So far, they have produced me-too music downloads and cracked versions of Epyx software. Their MP3 players are non-existant. Hopefully the C64DTV will see the light of day before this operation finally bites the dust.

Come on, Commodore. Make with the goods, or sell off the name to someone who can breathe life back into the tired old brand.

CST 367

October 26, 2004 by Dave Ross

I was just handed the requirements for my semester project in CST 367.

I have to write the software for a blog.

D'oh!

On the down side, it has to be in Java, so I can't just recycle the csixty4.com codebase.
