I have an idea. Let's identify kids with ADD who might go into IT careers, and TAKE AWAY THEIR RITALIN. Then, let's find kids who can concentrate and who might go into IT and give them a whole bunch of drugs to make them more like the ADD kids.
I'm having a major case of deja vu. I keep getting interrupted to take care of this or that. The form I've been working on since this morning is nowhere near done.
I'm on my way out the door to grab some lunch, and thought I'd pass along a pointer to the Chipotle Nutrition Calculator. Apparently, my favorite combination of ingredients yields a 1253 calorie monster. But that's ok, because 100 calories of that will be burned just getting to the restaurant and back (a 180lb. person @ 3mph => 108 calories/mile).
I just saw the following exchange on Fox News (yes, it's one of my guilty pleasures). In short, Sen. Jim Bunning says that the penalties proposed by Major League Baseball for steroid use just aren't enough. And rather than just use the police and military to find and punish ball players like they do for any other citizens, Bunning is proposing that Congress tell a private entity what to do. He may be a Republican, but this has to be one of the most blatent examples of Nanny State thinking I've ever seen:
Newscaster: Bud Selig proposes a 50 game suspension. That's not enough for you?
Sen. Jim Bunning: Well, there's ground to be worked on between 50 and a full two year suspension. We're not cast in stone. We just want the players and the owners to get together and do this. And if they don't do it, then Congress will intervene.
Newscaster: Yeah, well critics have said it really isn't something that Congress should get involved in. You should let the leagues handle this themselves. Your response?
Sen. Jim Bunning: They haven't done it. That's why we're involved in it.
Hmmmm…doesn't quite jive with that whole "smaller government" thing his party was pushing a few years ago, does it? Surprise, surprise…
