John Barrowman, star of the Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood, says he’s sorry he flashed his genitals.  One listener is upset the actor said he was going to “get it out” during an interview on BBC Radio.  Barrowman says “I was wrong to do this and it will never happen again.”

Screw that.  I’m thrilled to know the world is one step closer to finally seeing tits on the radio.

Last Night

April 26, 2008 by Dave Ross

I got home around seven, gave Inigo his medicine, and sat down for a few minutes to check my email. I wanted to give his Reglan a few minutes to kick in before I opened up a few cans of cat food.

The lightning started getting nasty, and I saw a bolt strike just down the road.  Our power was out, and that makes it kind of hard to make people food when your stove has electronic ignition.  It was pretty easy to convince Amy to go out to Giordano’s for dinner, and we picked up a copy of the New York Times so we had a crossword to do.

It was almost 10 when we got back, and the power was back up already.  That’s good, because we needed to bake for today’s bake sale at Cat Guardians.  Amy made the box of lemon squares I picked up, and I made two chocolate pudding cheesecake pies with Ghirardelli ganache (one for us).  I tried a slice this morning, and it turned out really rich.  I wish I made the pudding layer smaller, though, to give it a stronger cheesecake taste.

This weekend is going to be rough.  I have to make a trip to the post office to send a package and pick up my autographed Terry Malloy “Davros” picture.  Then, there’s a memorial service for my grandma Violet who I haven’t seen since I was 10, but my dad wants me to be there even though he’s the one who cut ties to her years ago.  And, I’m going to put some time in on a work project because it needs to be done by May 5th.

Region 2

November 27, 2007 by Dave Ross

The floodgates are open! After this weekend, it became clear that we’d be well off having a region 2 DVD player. So, I took back the external DVD drive I brought to work and hooked it up to our Mac Mini. The internal drive is set for region 1, and now the external can play all those wonderful BBC DVDs we can’t get in the US…

…like the 1996 Doctor Who movie. That’s kind of amusing, since Fox made the movie for both US and UK audiences. But, I guess there are rights issues. Isn’t that always the case? I found out this week that one of the episodes on the US release of the Doctor Who Series 3 DVD set wont have the commentary the cast recorded for the DVD release. They’re using the podcast commentary because the cast started singing various songs and there wasn’t time to clear them. Looks like I’m asking for the UK verison for my birthday.

(Yes, it’s Doctor Who week here at csixty4.com)

Also, I’d like to take a moment to plug Alien Entertainment (located here in Lombard) for stocking so much Doctor Who stuff, including region 2 discs. It’s just too damn expensive to order stuff from overseas & have it shipped here. They’re a little too convenient, though, when I find myself needing a Doctor Who or Star Trek fix on the way home.
